Jan Groover
Jan Groover produced images of mundane, quite regal still life which brought a sense of Renaissance majesty to postmodern photography. She started off her career as a painter and although she quickly moved on to photography, her preoccupations were subjectively similar to many painters she admired.
Groover's work, in my perspective, emulates a stateliness that cannot be emulated through an abstract concepts as Jenny Van Sommers' work relentlessly does. Her style and orientation is not what I intend to apply to my project, instead, I am going to include her subject matter as it is relevant to the project and links to Sommers' work well. She photographs mundane, very ordinary household items, very similar to Sommers, which I intend on mimicking in this project.
